Fireworks in the UK are big business. The demand for pyrotechnics is increasing year on year due to the General Public’s desire to use them for all kinds of celebrations. Nowadays, it is often considered a part of the Wedding Day package to have a firework finale to bring the celebrations to a close. This can be as simple as a line of guests with sparklers waving the Bride and Groom off, (which can be extremely effective), or, those on a slightly bigger budget can get a DIY “display in a box“, (single ignition). These start from as little as £50, can last up to 3 minutes and produce some pretty amazing sky filling and noisy, (if desired), fireworks and finally those who want to go all out for the big one, can have a Professional display with prices starting from around £700.
Another occasion that is becoming more common is the “Celebration of Life” where a loved one’s ashes are put into a number of Rockets. The Rockets can be set off singularly or during a firework display, depending on the family’s wishes and the whole celebration is carried out with great dignity. Of course for Birthdays, Christenings, Anniversaries, Bonfire Night, Christmas and New Years Eve we have fireworks to suit all tastes and budgets.
As a Firework Retailer, we have noticed a major change in customer preferences. No longer are they satisfied with just a bit of colour and a bang. Worldwide coverage of spectacular firework displays such as this year’s Olympic Opening and Closing Fireworks at the Beijing Olympics, (readily available on sites such as ‘You Tube’), have given customers the taste and desire to recreate these images in their own back gardens. Bees, Fish, Fizzers and Rockets that burst into rings of colour are all part of the new generation of fireworks that are here to stay. So, the next time you decide to go shopping for fireworks give yourself that extra bit of time to browse the many hundreds of items now available.
